Nokia have distributed mysterious boxes to bloggers. Inside these nearly-empty cardboard boxes is a USB stick advertising an event on August 18th. Since the boxes arrived in the post last week, rumours have been racing about the possible unveiling of Nokia’s touchscreen N8, its multi-platform story-telling experience Conspiracy for Good or pre-event chat about Nokia World 2010.

Judging by early reviews of Nokia’s N8, chances of Nokia becoming a smartphone forerunner with this flagship handset aren’t certain. For bloggers opening the ‘Nokia box’, and perhaps witnessing the launch of the N8 next week, the question will be ‘Deal or No Deal’? Let’s hope for Nokia the N8 is a smartphone deal and expectations aren’t as empty as its PR stunt box.
