Overview: GE’s X5 bridge camera

X5_White_Front_Left[1]

GE Digital Camera’s first bridge camera – the X5 – has arrived in the UK.  The X5 boasts 14 mega pixels, 28mm wide angle lens and an award-winning pan capture feature for landscape scenes.

What is it?

The X5 is a bridge camera. According to Wikipedia, bridge cameras are “cameras that  fill the niche between the single-lens reflex cameras (SLRs) and the Point-and-shoot camera.”

What do I get?

• Optical Image Stabilization • ISO 3200 • 27mm Lens

Features also include pan-capture panorama, face detection, auto-scene detection and in-camera red-eye removal. Available in black or white.

Oh, quirky

The X5 has in-built ’smile’ detection. The shutter automatically releases when the smile appears. Perfect for a reluctant subject. Plus, if they smile and blink, ‘blink detection’ tells you to take another shot.

Show me the money

The X5 is currently retailing at around £129.99.

Where’s the deal going down?

Available from all ‘good photographic retailers’. It’s on sale online now.

In a nutshell

The perfect camera for making smile-resistant, blink-happy, red-eyed types look a little more normal.

  1. This is a review? Looks more like a edit of the press release.

  2. Hi, thanks for commenting. You’re right, this round-up is low on analysis. Would be great if you can add some user comments if you’ve had chance to get your hands on one of these.
